There's significantly less grind to unlock new weapon attachments in the new game, but that doesn't stop players from wanting to level up quickly. How To Level Up Fast In MW2: XP Tokens
Click to enlargeThe first step you should take to level up fast in Modern Warfare 2 is to enable any XP tokens you might have laying around. Activating these will double all the experience points you earn for a certain time period, so they're extremely useful if you know you're going to be settling in for a long play session.
Your XP tokens should carry over from previous titles, too. So if you still have plenty left over from Modern Warfare (2019), Cold War, or Vanguard, you should be able to use them in Modern Warfare 2 for an easy boost. Just keep in mind that the XP boosts still expire while you're in the lobby menu. To maximise them, it's best to activate them just before you enter a game and ensure you stay in a constant lobby while the boost is active.

How To Level Up Fast In MW2: Challenges

There are always a collection of daily missions to complete in Modern Warfare 2, and completing each of them will reward you with a heap of XP. Some of these can be pretty easy, too. Most will reward you for doing things you already do in your average match. However, some might require you to switch up your playstyle or loadout a little, so keep an eye on them.
In addition, there are also weapon challenges for each of the different receivers in Modern Warfare 2. Completing these will unlock new weapon skins for your guns, as well as earn you a bunch of XP super quickly. Make sure you prioritise these missions over any other ones as they will certainly level you up the fastest in Modern Warfare 2.

How To Level Up Fast In MW2: PTFO
Click to enlargeThe term 'PTFO' is commonly used among the Battlefield community, but Call of Duty players could stand to learn from it too. It stands for 'Play The Freaking Objective', and means exactly what it says on the tin. When playing objective-based game modes, it's imperative that you prioritise the objective rather than looking for kills.
This is especially important when you're looking to level up fast in Modern Warfare 2. Not only does winning a match earn you more XP, but objectives provide far more XP than earning kills does. For example, you'll find that you're able to easily top leaderboards in objective modes if you stick to capturing flags. Even if other players on your team have many more kills than you do, if you're playing the objective, you'll still come out on top. Your K/D ratio may take a hit, but if it's levelling up fast, then PTFO-ing is the way to go.
