At launch, Modern Warfare 2 was home to 12 different maps. However, some of these maps only catered to normal game modes while a select few could also host Ground War, a much larger-scale mode that accommodates more players.

Infinity Ward is still adding new maps to Modern Warfare 2 as part of the live service. So, if you're not a fan of the maps available at launch, it's worth returning to see if you prefer any of the newly added ones. Here is the complete list of maps available to play in Modern Warfare 2 right now:

Modern Warfare 2 Launch Maps:

The following maps were part of Modern Warfare 2 at launch, with more added as DLC which we'll cover below.

Some Modern Warfare 2 maps can only be played as part of Ground War/Invasion game types, however.

These MW2 maps also join Al Mazrah and Ashika Island as the Warzone 2 and DMZ maps.

Shoot House and Shipment were added to Modern Warfare 2 as part of Season 1. Following this trend of adapting classic Call of Duty maps for Modern Warfare 2, it's likely that we'll see other classic maps make their way to the new game too. Keep your eyes peeled on this list for when any other new maps might be added to Modern Warfare 2.
