How to get the Overkill perk benefits in Modern Warfare 3
The Overkill perk in the Modern Warfare 3 beta will let you dual-wield two primary weapons at the same time. Here's how you can unlock it for yourself!
In Call of Duty games, the Overkill perk allows you to equip two primary weapons and use two different loadouts depending on the situation - and you can unlock it in Modern Warfare 3.
However, with the introduction of a new perk system in Modern Warfare 3, the developer has entirely removed all of the old perks and replaced them with boots, gloves, gear, and vests. Luckily, there’s a workaround through which players can still gain the benefits of Overkill perk in this new game.
Can you get the Overkill perk in MW3?
While the Overkill perk doesn't appear directly in Modern Warfare 3, you can get the same benefits by equipping the Gunner Vest or the Overkill Vest in the game. The Gunner Vest is one of four unique Vest Perks in the game, the others being the Engineer Vest, Demolition Vest, and Infantry Vest.
When you equip the Gunner Vest, an additional slot for the primary weapon will appear in the Vest customisation section. From there, you can select two primary weapons that will be immediately available to use from the moment a match begins until it ends.
Aside from this, the Gunner Vest provides the following benefits in Modern Warfare 3:
- Improved reload speed
- Start with maximum ammo
This vest is primarily beneficial for aggressive players who like to be in the heat of the battle.
How to unlock the Gunner Vest & Overkill Vest in MW3
The Gunner Vest is locked by default in Modern Warfare 3, so players will need to unlock it first by reaching level 20 on their account. Several ways to level up fast in Modern Warfare 3 include playing matches, completing Daily Challenges, and getting kills. After fulfilling the unlock condition, the Gunner Vest will appear under the ‘Vest Perks’ section as shown below.
You must choose the two primary weapons in the Gunner Vest before the match starts, and you cannot change them in the middle of the game.
Similarly to The Gunner Vest, the Overkill Vest in MW3 is locked by default. However, it can be unlocked by reaching Level 50. However, unlike the Gunner Vest, it lacks the increased reload speed. So, if you want the benefits of Overkill early and faster reload, you're better off sticking with the Gunner Vest.
That's everything you need to get to grips with the equivalent of the Overkill perk in Modern Warfare 3. With this, you'll be climbing up the ranks in no time. If you're looking for even more Perks, why not check out all the Perks in the Zombies mode of MW3?
