The Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores release date is scheduled for April 19, 2023, so it is not long now until you'll be able to jump into Aloy's adventure once again.

It was revealed not too long ago back at the Game Awards in 2022, and arriving shortly after Forbidden West's first anniversary gives players enough breathing room from the base game's lengthy and expansive narrative.

While Guerrilla Games haven't released a whole lot of information regarding the expansion, it would still be incredibly surprising to see a delay this close to release so we can be pretty confident that the April 19 date will stick.

While we haven't received any Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores gameplay footage so far, there are a couple of things that we know of based on various trailers and descriptions.

First and foremost, the Burning Shores expansion is explicitly meant to be played after you've finished the main story - so make sure that you've done that in preparation. Furthermore, you will be able to bring all of your favourite gear and weapons over from the main game, so refresh yourself on that if you need to as well.

From a setting perspective, volcanos have turned Los Angeles into an archipelago - but this gives Aloy the perfect setting to climb and fly around in a plethora of new adventures. New characters and stories will of course be introduced, alongside exciting new enemy types and bosses to challenge even the strongest players.

If you enjoyed all of your time spent with Aloy in Forbidden West, then you are bound to want to jump straight into Burning Shores to get a fresh slice of content.

Despite there being no explicit gameplay footage released so far, there have actually been a couple of Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores trailers that you can watch to get more excited.

The first and most significant one of the bunch is the Game Awards 2022 trailer, which gave us all a first look at the new stunning location that you will be able to explore.

Furthermore, there has also been a preorder trailer which shows a little bit more footage if you're wanting to see everything, alongside a video on 'how to prepare' for the new expansion, which lets you in on everything you need to do before you jump into the Los Angeles of the future.

As of right now, Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores is only scheduled to come out on PlayStation 5. This is an intriguing choice from Guerrilla and Sony as the base game was available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but it perhaps signals an increase in graphical fidelity within the expansion - or a cheeky push for those who haven't quite made the jump yet.

While there might be a PC release for Horizon Forbidden West coming sometime in the future, it is currently unannounced so you might be waiting a while. However, if it is the same as the first game then Burning Shores will be included to complete the experience.
