It seems like an age ago when Tundra Esports and Team Secret collided in one of the most unlikely yet thrilling international bouts in Dota 2 history in Singapore. But the 2023 Dota 2 tour is underway, and after a first stop in Lima, Peru, the long-running MOBA is heading back to Europe. With the Winter Split reaching its climax between February 22 and March 5, ESL is now already one step ahead and has revealed that the second tour of the Dota 2 2023 circuit will be held in Berlin. 

So, here's all you need to know about the Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023, including its location, tickets, format, teams, schedule, and prize pool. 

Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 Location

The Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023, is, by no surprise, headed to Berlin, Germany. Who would have guessed with that tricky name?

Home of many esports now, Berlin is expanding its roots into gaming, adding Dota 2 to their list that also includes exclusive studios for League of Legends and VALORANT.

The Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 will be held within the Velodrom Arena, transforming this iconic indoor cycling venue into a skirmishing battleground. Olympic legends, Kylie Minogue, Janet Jackson, and Daft Punk have all played in front of this 12,000 large crowd.

The Velodrom is within stumbling distance from fast food chains, Italian restaurants, burger joints, shopping outlets, bars and pubs, and the Landsberger Allee Station.

Berlin Major 2023 Tickets 

Tickets go on sale for Berlin Major 2023, as of February 8, where there will be four tiers of tickets available.

Only the dates May 5-7, which will feature the final six teams, will be available to watch with a live audience. 

Ranging between €49 and €239 for full weekends tickets (€19-€39 for day tickets), the tickets will be on sale on the ESL website at 14:00 GMT (15:00 CET).

Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 Format

With 18 teams competing in the event, but only six making it to the live climax, there the Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 will be split into three stages.

All 18 teams will be pitted into two nine-team single round-robin groups, where fixtures will be best-of-two. Here, the top six teams in each group will advance into a 12-team double-elimination bracket.

The top four seeded teams will advance straight to the upper bracket, while 5th and 6th of the respective groups will advance to the lower bracket.

Then, the remaining six teams in the Playoffs will compete in front of the live crowd to hoist the ESL One Trophy.

Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 Schedule

The schedule for Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 hasn't yet been revealed in full, with a better understanding of fixtures and the playoffs bracket expected to come closer to the time.

An outline for the Berlin Major 2023 schedule is as follows:

  • The Group Stage will be April 26-30
  • The Playoffs will be May 2-7
  • The Playoffs (Live audience) will be May 5-7

Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 Teams

The teams for the Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 have yet to have been decided. 

Four teams from Western Europe, three teams from Eastern Europe, two teams from North America, three teams from South East Asia, four teams from China, and two teams from South America will all compete. 

Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 Prize Pool

We all know that Dota 2 is esteemed for its ridiculously heightened prize pool for The International, but for the majors, there's still quite a whack to be earned. 

The Dota 2 Berlin Major will have a total prize pool of $500,000, which will be split between teams with increasingly eye-watering sums for the top teams.

The direct split for the Berlin Major prize pool breakdown hasn't been revealed yet, though.

So, if you come away from watching the Lima Major wanting more, the Berlin Major is right around the corner and you could be in for a real treat.
