Modern Warfare 3 Zombies: Open world, setting, & everything we know
With MW3 coming out on November 10, many are wondering if it will have zombies included in the game. The zombies game mode was first introduced in Call of Duty: World at War in 2008, and has quickly become one of the series’ most popular game modes. Despite this popularity, it isn’t always guaranteed to appear in every game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is, as always, going to be one of the most popular games released this year when it launches in early November. It is always interesting to see which game modes will be returning, or included, in a new Call of Duty. Zombies, for example, were missing from MW2.
So, here is everything you need to know about if zombies will be featured in Call of Duty: MW3 when it releases later this year.
Is Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies open-world?
Zombies will be included in MW3, making it the first time the game mode will appear in the Modern Warfare series.
Zombies is an iterative game mode that is often expanded upon, and this time around is no different. This year's zombies will introduce surviving across a large open-world map for the first time, as you protect yourself from the undead hordes.
Call of Duty: MW3 zombies gameplay
This rendition of the game mode will build on what we saw in Outbreak mode in Black Ops Cold War. A zombie mode that was very similar to DMZ, this time around it looks to be going even grander than ever before.
This means round-based zombies is gone. Instead, the loot and exfil style we have seen grow increasingly popular will be the basis for MW3's zombies.
Where is MW3's zombies set?
MW3's zombies will maintain the same setting as the rest of the game, seeing zombies in a modern setting. The map will be the largest we have ever seen in a Call of Duty MW3 zombies mode and will feature a cinematic storyline from Treyarch.
So far, it is not know what the exact map will be, but it would make sense for it to feature sections of the new Warzone map we are also expecting to launch alongside MW3.
There is no doubt this will be a welcome return for the mode, and hopefully, the new changes can maintain the quality we have come to expect from zombies. Putting players into an open-world region to explore could be one of the most interesting changes yet - the map will have plenty of challenges to complete, and secrets to find.
That is all you need to know about whether or not zombies will be making a return in MW3, after not featuring last time around. If you can’t wait to play, then make sure you give our guide to the Campaign Early Access a look.
