Assassin's Creed Mirage looks to be a return to form for the series, so you'll likely be keen to know the release date. The Assassin's Creed games have evolved in a big way since the early days. What was once a stealth-action sandbox has now evolved into sprawling and complex RPGs. Ubisoft is going back to its roots with Assassin's Creed Mirage, aiming to recapture what first put the series on the map. Here's everything you need to know about Assassin's Creed Mirage, including the release date, trailers, gameplay details, and more.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Release Date And Platforms

At the time of writing, there is currently no specific release date for Assassin's Creed Mirage. The only indication that Ubisoft has given is that it will release in 2023. When it does finally arrive, we can expect to play Assassin's Creed Mirage on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Mirage will be set in Baghdad in the year 861 AC. That's around 20 years prior to the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which was released in 2020. This makes sense, as the main protagonist is none other than Basim Ibn Ishaq, a key character in Valhalla.

According to a story synopsis provided by Ubisoft, Mirage will follow the story of how Basim came to join the order of the Hidden Ones. During this period, we'll become familiar with his mentor figure, Roshan. She is voiced by award-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Gameplay

While Assassin's Creed Mirage may be open world once again, it likely won't be in the same capacity as Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Instead, Ubisoft is touting Mirage as a return to the more linear style of missions and storytelling. We'll still be able to explore the streets of Baghdad and undertake missions in whichever order we so choose. However, the world will be far smaller and much more densely populated than the expansive plains of England, Greece, or Egypt.

The tighter focus will likely have a huge effect on the moment-to-moment gameplay, too. With a much heavier focus on social stealth mechanics, picking a fight with a huge group of enemies will no longer be the preferred option. Players will likely have to use all of the tools at their disposal to complete their objectives in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Trailers

So far, we've only had one trailer for Assassin's Creed Mirage, and it's a CG cinematic one. While we don't get any glimpses at gameplay, it serves to set the scene of Basim in Baghdad, and there are plenty of references for veteran Assassin's fans to enjoy. Give the trailer a watch above.

That's all we know above Assassin's Creed Mirage so far. For more Assassin's Creed guides, keep reading GGRecon.
