Call of Duty: Vanguard has had its fair share of problems. It basically goes without saying at this point. The game has a problem with hackers, though it isn't quite as potent as that of Warzone, and it's still incredibly buggy - with a gameplay loop that doesn't feel quite as rewarding as its Call of Duty predecessors.

Vanguard hasn't really managed to stick the landing in terms of making a name in the legacy of the franchise, and with players now looking forward to Modern Warfare II, it's unknown if it'll be able to pull it back.

But, there's one problem that's more prominent than any other - the fact that there are no dog-themed guns that you can pet. Well, that's all about to change. It's about bloody time.

Vanguard Lets You Pet The Dog-Gun

A new pack introduced to the CoD store has revealed a huge wealth of cosmetics, along with one special blueprint that adds a very special boy to your arsenal.

The Hell Hounds Mastercraft Tracer Pack introduces an out-there series of blueprints and skins to the WWII shooter. The Adamantine Anna skin looks great, but most importantly, it comes with the Gatekeeper Armaguerra 43 blueprint.

This latest edition of the weapon adds the three heads of Cerberus to the front of the gun. It doesn't end there, though - because the Gatekeeper Armaguerra 43 blueprint features a short animation that sees the player give the keeper to the gates of Hell some big scritches.

The first video of the animation, of course, comes courtesy of Twitter account "Can You Pet The Dog?" and confirms that, yes, you can pet the dog. But, some fans aren't particularly loving the good boy's addition.

Fans Hate Cerberus In Vanguard

Naturally, as with every new addition to Vanguard, fans are angry with the skin for once again breaking the immersion of the title's World War II setting and baiting players into shelling out huge sums of money for cosmetics. One fumed, "Yeah but it costs 40$ to pet the damn dog on the game that already costs 60$," while another raged, "Wasn't this game supposed to be during idk...world war 2????"

This new skin isn't for everyone - but at least there's a new doggo on the scene for fans. As Fallout showed us with Dogmeat, dogs in video games are more than just man's best friend. It might break immersion having a Hades-inspired gun in the trenches of WWII, but then again, we don't remember Godzilla and Kong helping us beat Hitler. Anything to keep us away from the gameplay, eh?
