Epic Games, makers of Fortnite and Rocket League, has announced that all the action from the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) can be watched from within Fortnite, starting with the RLCS Winter Major which kicks off tomorrow.

The major is a momentous event in Rocket League esports as it is the first LAN event since the pandemic brought a screeching halt to so many back in early 2020. Since then, all tournaments have been played online, meaning debates about who is truly the best team in the world have been left without a satisfying conclusion.

That time also saw Epic Games saw a number of cross-promotions between Fortnite and Rocket League, the latter of which was brought under the publisher after a 2019 deal to acquire the game's developer, Psyonix, but none of those limited-time events were on the level of which is planned over the next week.

Not that Fortnite is any stranger to being a place where people "do stuff", the game has had designs of being its own metaverse - sans any NFT grifting - having previously hosted movies such as Christopher Nolan's Tenet and musical acts like Travis Scott but those activations, as they are so often called, will likely not have the continuing impact that bringing Epic Games' two highly compatible titles together in such an inviting way.

Rocket League Comes To Fortnite

On the eve of the tournament (March 22), Epic Games announced, via the Fortnite Creative Twitter, that they were introducing a "brand-new way to watch @RLEsports inside of Fortnite".

Promising that this is "just the beginning", players will be able to pick a team to root for, play themed mini-games, unlock new items and abilities by filling their "Boost Meter", and of course watch all the action as it happens in Los Angeles.

More information, including what these - likely highly sought after - rewards will be will surely come in time as the RLCS Winter Major kicks off at 5pm GMT on March 23 with two games: Team Queso vs DeToNator and FaZe Clan vs Version1.
