Well, there's a lot to be said about the new era of Street Fighter

It seems as though the franchise is more than willing to take some serious risks, as the game's first teaser trailer revealed a Ryu built like a brick wall, stunning fans with his shocking breadth alone. Change was clearly on the horizon, and we've finally seen much more of it, with a new gameplay trailer debuting at last night's PlayStation State of Play conference that shows off a lot of changes to the franchise.

But most compelling of all the changes is that of its logo, after it received some serious backlash.

Street Fighter 6's Logo Has Changed After Backlash

Among the swathe of changes on their way to the franchise, Street Fighter fans have noticed that finally, the logo for Street Fighter 6 has changed since its first teaser trailer.

The logo was a surprising point of controversy for Capcom, especially on Twitter, as many accused the teams behind the game of practically ripping off an Adobe Stock image, an incredibly simple presentation of the letters "SF" inside a hexagon. The Street Fighter logo was a slightly more slanted version of this, with a splodge of spray paint on its corner, containing the number "6".

Not only was this decried for its seemingly stolen nature, but fans were also confused as to what this meant for the franchise itself, one with an incredibly recognisable logo as it is, that had been reduced to a bizarre logo that looked incredibly corporate.

Thankfully, the newly revealed trailer shows off a brand-new logo, along with a huge sum of new ideas brought to life.

Street Fighter 6 Trailer Reveals Open World

The new State of Play has unearthed a lot of details about the upcoming Street Fighter title, most of which are completely new to the franchise.

Not only does the trailer reveal a new look for most of the characters, most noticeably with Chun-Li, but it also reveals what looks to be a full open-world mode that lets you explore the locations from across the series and engage in a true world tour.

Fans have been left stunned by the new changes made to Street Fighter, and we're willing to bet that there are more surprises yet to come. It looks like the new era for Ryu and co. is here.
