Warzone Players Torn On Unrealistic Skydiving Gunfights

Is shooting players whilst falling out of a helicopter one step too far over the realism barrier?

The realism barrier in Call of Duty has always been the line that nobody can agree on. While the shooter isn't quite a Battlefield that wants to emulate a real-life conflict, it isn't Titanfall either where robots and futuristic arms races are brought to life. Instead, the developers have attempted to make a hybrid, to allow for a fast-paced respawn-heavy game that combines history with the arcade.

It's no surprise that the developers often cross the realism barrier, and quite frequently as of late, erupting the debate on almost a weekly basis. Although, with some fans being disgruntled at the lack of WWII guns and others to play a 1940s shooter as Boba Fett, the blurry lines have been more confusing than ever before.

However, one long-standing feature of Warzone gameplay has now been called out, and fans are split on whether it is crossing the line or not.

Fans Split On Warzone's Skydiving Feature

The ability to shoot your guns whilst on the descent from the starting plane/chopper (depending on the map) is a feature that has always been in Warzone since its release. Unlike other battle royales where you have to wait until you've landed to loot and shoot, Warzone's skydiving shooting mechanics mean you can rack up kills before you've even touched the floor.

But is this right? One fan has now received quite a lot of backing on social media after claiming that "while falling from 1000 feet, you should not be able to ever so accurately hit multiple shots at another target that is falling from 1000 feet," followed by a subsequent clip of him being beamed out of the sky.

After receiving over 400 upvotes of support on Reddit, other comments such as "it’s like top 3 things that should be deleted," poured in, with many hopeful that this mechanic will be left in Warzone and not carried into the sequel.

Should Warzone Players Be Able To shoot When Skydiving?

While this is obviously something that cannot be replicated in real life, Warzone's many inaccuracies might not be too bad after all. A wealth of players argued that while skydiving and shooting so accurately isn't the perfect way of doing things, there are more pressing matters to attend to. "This is pretty low on the totem pole of 'things that shouldn't happen in WZ but do' IMO", one fan claimed.

Others also targeted the skill gap, and the fan base's many complaints about movement mechanics that separate good players from the rest of the pack. "I swear this subreddit wants a revolutionary war-style shooter where you just stand across from each other in a field and shoot," another exasperated fan added.

Warzone's unique ability to shoot when plummeting to the ground is undoubtedly far-fetched. But when you have an arcade game that has Snoop Dog bursting out of the trenches to assassinate King Kong, is it that bad?

What might be more barbaric is the fact you can't shoot when the parachute is pulled.
