VALORANT Players Plead For Ranked Rewards As No.1 Player 'Doesn't Give A Sh*t'

VALORANT players have called for better rewards for ranked play, following the nonchalant reaction of 100T Ethan reaching the top of the North American leaderboards.

You’d think that becoming the number one ranked player in the world would mean something.

Picture the relief on the face of Rafael Nadal on centre court at Wimbledon after a gruelling final. The jubilation on the face of Max Verstappen after overtaking Hamilton on the last lap of the Formula 1 season to take his first championship. Or the smug grin on the face of Tyson Fury as he parties the night away at a Steve Aoki rave just hours after knocking out Deontay Wilder. Ecstatic. Thrilled. Merry.

Not a sombre smile and almost mute “time to go to bed”, which was the reaction of 100 Thieves’ Ethan Arnold as he reach the top of the North American leaderboard in VALORANT.

Despite Ethan never being one for showing too much, the lacklustre celebrations have meant that fans have now realised that becoming the top rank means diddly-squat, apart from bragging rights, and have called for Riot Games to add rewards for players who achieve this feat.

VALORANT Fans Call For Better Rank Rewards

“Hey, I got one” was the extent of Ethan’s celebrations as he became the highest-ranked player in the North American servers. Although ranked playlists do mean less to players than competitions such as the VALORANT Champions Tour, it’s still a notable accolade, only achievable after pouring a huge number of hours into the game.

Following Ethan posting his reaction on Twitter, with a simple “ggez” message, some VALORANT players have taken issue with Riot, claiming that they should add more incentive to become the best, and offer rewards for reaching the top of the leaderboards, even if they only stay there for a few hours.

“This is the reaction from someone hitting rank 1 on your system. The guy doesn't give a s**t because he gets nothing for it other than a number beside his name,” one VALORANT community member said. “Glorinsz”, the founder of a small organisation named Team Serenity, continued to plea for “rewards and incentives asap, please and thank you.”

Will VALORANT Get Rewards For Hitting 1st in Ranked?

Riot Games do have a history of celebrating their best players, although the developers have not spread much incentive in recent years.

Also operating League of Legends, the devs rewarded some of the highest-ranked players Challengers jackets and backpacks, in one of the earlier seasons. One player on the Chinese servers was also awarded money for reaching the top of the SoloQ ladder, seven years ago

Most recently, Tyler "tyler1" Steinkamp was awarded a series of medals for reaching Challengers in each of the game's five roles.

Maybe, Riot will look to add an in-game skin similar to the ones they released for teams who made it to Champions, adding a little extra recognition for complete mastery of their tactical shooter.
