Update: Ubisoft has released the full Star Wars Outlaws story trailer and confirmed the game's release date

Fans have been looking forward to Star Wars Outlaws for a while, purely on the basis that it's a Star Wars game. Still, many have failed to consider that if Ubisoft can pull things off, it could be a huge deal.

Following the success of Respawn Entertainment's Jedi series, players have been hoping for a new open-world Star Wars title that could take over and become the new standard experience. Although some are concerned about how the property will fare under Ubisoft, they're still excited to see more.

The Star Wars Outlaws story trailer is coming later today (April 9), but it already seems that it's letting on more than it should. Hours before the release of the game's story trailer, Ubisoft has accidentally leaked the Star Wars Outlaws release date.

Star Wars Outlaws gets a release date

As Gematsu first pointed out, the trailer's premiere page was spotted on the YouTube channel of Ubisoft Japan. The early trailer leak has inadvertently revealed that Star Wars Outlaws will launch on August 30.

Gematsu has also claimed that players who pre-order the game in its Gold or Ultimate edition will get three days of early access, as well as the title's season pass. It's a big upset for Ubisoft as it crossed its fingers for a big reveal, but it seems it's dropped itself in it.

What is Star Wars Outlaws about?

The game is an ambitious open-world adventure game set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. You'll play as Kay Vess, a "scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix."

It appears to be an adventure across the crime syndicates of the galaxy far, far away, which will be a refreshing approach to the worlds in the universe for the video game medium.

Not much else is known about Star Wars outlaws, but more details are expected to be revealed when the story trailer launches. Though the release date has made its way into our hands, there's still plenty more to learn - and we're fascinated to see what Ubisoft has in store for wannabe Rebel scum.
