The year of the Metal Gear Solid 3 release has been announced
The gaming industry remains positively swept up in the remake and remaster craze, with Resident Evil 4 bringing the horror franchise's most iconic title back to life in marvellous fashion.
Players are still bellowing at the top of their lungs that their favourite franchise is the one that most deserves a remake, and as they all scrap on Twitter, there's one that has long deserved some new licks of paint - and it's Metal Gear Solid.
Hideo Kojima's brainchild has been spread across so many consoles and generations, playing the full series in sequence legally has become quite difficult. As gamers are still begging for easier ways to play Metal Gear Solid 3, rumours of its remake have been rife. Now, we might have pinned down a release window.
Metal Gear Solid 3 remake seemingly on the way
It looks like we could be stepping into Snake's boots at some point in 2024, as one industry insider has pointed out. VGC's Andy Robinson has made a bold claim on Twitter, suggesting that the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 is set to come next year.
More than this, Robinson says there are still talks of re-releasing other classic series titles. An announcement was supposedly coming during E3 this year, but given recent cancellations from gaming giants, the event's future is currently unknown.
No sources are given for this news, while the vibe of the tweet is very much "trust me bro." As much as we'd like to start saving now, it's worth taking Robinson's bold claims with a heavy pinch of salt. Still, some fans are latching on with sheer excitement.
Will Konami dedicate itself to bringing back MGS?
Konami isn't exactly in the industry's good books right, thanks to its dissolved relationship with series boss Hideo Kojima and its immensely weird attachment to NFTs. But, it looks like if this is a plan Konami had for a while, the publisher could go hard on remaking and re-releasing Metal Gear Solid games.
After all, it's pushing Bloober's Silent Hill 2 remake hard enough. As one of Konami's big three alongside Silent Hill and Castlevania, we know MGS is an incredible money mill. The Kojima of it all set aside, it looks like Konami will be going big with Metal Gear Solid. Well, about time.
