Well, the Duffer Brothers did it - they turned our expectations "upside down" in Stranger Things Season 4. While we know there will be one more season before the show bows out for good, that didn't stop Season 4 from raising the stakes with a kooky cast of newcomers alongside our old favourites.

Warning: major Stranger Things spoilers ahead

Away from Jamie Cambell Brewer's villainous Henry Creel/Vecna and Eduardo Franco's Argyle, easily the standout was Joseph Quinn's Eddie Munson - sorry Yuri. Things galloped toward the finale, where Eddie had a crucial part to play in drawing away the Demobats with a stirring rendition of Metallica's "Master of Puppets." Now, it's being honoured in a TikTok trend.

Why Are People Recreating Eddie Munson's Stranger Things Solo?

By now, we're sure you'll know what happens to Eddie - tragically laying down his life to lure the Demobats away. As soon as he said "Chrissy, this is for you" and started strumming the 1986 heavy metal song, we knew it was going to be a great scene. It hasn't quite found the fame of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill", but it's still a viral sensation.

The trend has taken off on TikTok, with various results. Some are great at playing the song - and even have started wearing Hellfire Club t-shirts to honour Eddie. Others aren't quite as good at playing the song, but either way, it's a great homage to one of the show's best characters. Death is never far away in Stranger Things, but Eddie's demise hit harder than most.

Appearing as a track on 2009's Guitar Hero: Metallica, "Master of Puppets" was a tricky Tier 6 song that isn't for the faint-hearted. Still, don't try and cash in on the trend if you can't play the tunes. It's not very Eddie, is it? Some are so bad at playing "Master of Puppets", they've been booed off the virtual stage in a matter of seconds.

Can Joseph Quinn Play The Guitar?

In Stranger Things, Quinn got to actually pick up a guitar. Speaking to RadioTimes.com, he explained, "I was trying to be realistic with kind of what I could do. Like I've been playing [guitar] since I was a kid but I'm no virtuoso. So I had most of the song down, but for the solo, we had to fly someone, a black belt metal guitarist, in to help with that. The rest of it? I had a stab at it, yeah." As for who that help was, it turned out Tye Trujillo (who is the son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo) performed the song.

Even Metallica has taken note of Eddie Munson. At the time of writing, a duet video with Stranger Things and has over 7 million views. If that wasn't enough, "Master of Puppets" has also reached No. 1 in the iTunes rock chart. The Guitar Hero trend shows no signs of slowing down, and for a game that's 13 years old, that's not bad. We wonder if Quinn did some practising on there too.
