If there's anything that fans weren't ready for during the Kingdom Hearts 20th-anniversary show, it was a full game reveal. It hasn't actually been that long since the release of Kingdom Hearts 3, a title that was pretty hit-or-miss for fans of the franchise - but Square Enix came through with the first look at Kingdom Hearts 4, a huge reveal that nobody saw coming despite its appearance in the most recent Nvidia leak.

But, as it turns out, hints at the game's arrival have been around longer than we'd expect.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Was Teased Weeks Ago

Not only was the teaser trailer a huge look into what we can expect from the next mainline Kingdom Hearts game, but there was also a secret peek at what the title has to offer released weeks in advance.

Back on March 27, Game Director, Tetsuya Nomura, shared a post on the Kingdom Hearts Twitter, featuring an image of some artwork in progress.

Interestingly, though, it's this artwork that has been officially released in its finished form to promote Kingdom Hearts 4 and the wider franchise. The art shows off different iterations of Sora and his friends (and enemies) and shares another look at the latest design for the character in the new game. How sneaky.

What's Coming To Kingdom Hearts 4?

As Kingdom Hearts 4 is making the jump to the real world, a lot of fans have theorised that the possibilities for the series have just expanded tenfold.

With the game entering a human world, there's every chance that Star Wars could be joining the title (especially as fans reckon they've spotted an AT-ST in the trailer), and with the galaxy far, far away on the table - who's to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe couldn't make it in too?

The possibilities are rife, and we won't know for sure what's coming until a big reveal - but in the meantime, we'll keep hoping that Iron Man's suit will be playable in the next instalment.
