The gaming industry can't just have a lazy Sunday, can it?

Yesterday, while the entire world was settling into a lazy Sunday morning, coffee in hand, Square Enix dropped a bomb. Kingdom Hearts was far from done, and in fact, during the Kingdom Hearts 20th-anniversary event, it was revealed that Kingdom Hearts 4 is currently in development, coming with a beautiful new trailer.

But, something has changed. Sora isn't wearing his goofy-ass clown shoes. No, he's in fact, completely dripped out.

Sora's Dripped Out In The Kingdom Hearts 4 Trailer

The new reveal trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 was a massive treat for long-time fans of the series, but it came with a wealth of surprises. But, shockingly, the terrifying and gigantic smog monster isn't one of those things. No, instead, fans are much more focussed on Sora's outfit.

In an act of goofiness erasure, Sora is no longer donning his giant, silly clown shoes, and is instead wearing… normal clothes. Shudder.

His hair's a little flatter, and his clothes are a little more well-fitting - so rather than looking like an anime protagonist, Sora looks like he's dressed in cosplay of an anime protagonist.

He's a more toned-down version of himself to suit the new real-world iteration of Kingdom Hearts, which has left a lot of fans sceptical. But mostly, heartbroken for the loss of his big daft creps.

When Is Kingdom Hearts 4 Coming Out?

Interestingly, we haven't had any hint as to the future of Kingdom Hearts 4 beyond the hints at its story that were revealed in the game's trailer. Not only have we been offered no release date, but we've had no indication of its chosen consoles.

Though it's safe to assume that the games are in development for next-gen consoles, we simply won't know until the next reveal for the game - and we may be waiting a while.

Kingdom Hearts 4 may be some time off now, but it's nice to know that it's in development regardless. It'll give us a chance to get used to a Sora without his dumb shoes, either way.
