Sony's Final PlayStation Now Lineup Is A Disappointing Farewell
PlayStation Now as we know it is about to come to an end. The subscription service seemed like a pithy attempt to beat Game Pass at its own game - and as it was recognised to fail at its primary directive - it was decided that it needed a refresh.
That refresh is Project Spartacus, an effort to blend PlayStation Now with PlayStation Plus, and a push that hopes to give players the chance to play new and old games alike in the easiest way. But, the final month of PlayStation Now as we know it isn't exactly a sign of exciting things to come.
PlayStation Now's Final Lineup Is A Bit Dead
The final announcement of games coming to PlayStation Now has arrived before the total overhaul of the service, but fans are not happy. What with this being something of a final hurrah, gamers were expecting, or at the very least hoping, for something special. Sadly, this reveal isn't particularly exciting, all things considered.
This month is bringing to PlayStation Now Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Soulcalibur VI and Blasphemous. Yep, that's it. Though the games themselves may be good, it's not exactly the big blow-out that fans were hoping for - leading to some pretty salty comments online
Fans Hate The New PlayStation Now Update
Fans aren't unimpressed with this latest announcement, hoping that the revamped PlayStation Plus will yield some better drops. Even though the future of our gaming subscription is set to be a lot different, PlayStation Now's limping swansong isn't exactly the Game Pass rival Sony pitched it as.
It certainly could have been more exciting, but at the end of the PlayStation Now rope, maybe this was all that Sony had up its sleeve. A recent installation of an acquisitions manager suggests some big studios could soon fall under the PlayStation banner, so fingers crossed for FromSoftware.
Once Sony has a few more eggs in its basket, there's a bigger pot of games to pick from for the new tiered subscription service. A lot of big announcements are expected to arrive in the coming months regarding what's on the slate for the new PlayStation Plus - but until then, we're just going to have to wait. Sigh.
