Shocking Stats Show G2 Caps Is The Worst Mid-Laner In The LEC
The LEC was sent into overdrive in the fourth weekend of action in the Summer Split, as Misfits pulled off one of the most impressive comebacks of the year to carve deeper into the bleeding G2 Esports wounds.
Sat at a 10k gold deficit, Misfits secured a Drake that ripped up the script, turning the tide completely on its head. With an entire team wipe coming off the back of the drake buff, Misfits threw caution to the wind and surged through the G2 defensive towers, securing the nexus despite being pretty much down 0 nd out 30 seconds prior.
The victory for Misfits saw them rocket to joint top of the Summer League Play, whilst G2 dropped out of the top 6, throwing their worlds' placement into jeopardy after four straight defeats.
Whilst G2 may be scratching their heads, statistics show their Mid-Laner Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther is in the worst form of his career and sits bottom of the LEC rankings in his role this split.
G2 Caps Stats For The LEC Summer Split
Regarded as the best Mid-Laner in League of Legends, Caps' struggles have been visible in the current split.
After nine games this split, Caps has already equalled his death tally of the Spring Split, with 34. His total deaths are also joint bottom of the pack, alongside support players Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov and Labros “Labrov” Papoutsakis.
Recently, Fnatic's Elias "Upset" Lipp defended Caps by saying he's still the best player in the LEC, although following their victory over G2, Caps now sits bottom of the KDA rankings too.
Averaging more deaths than kills, and an overall KDA of 2.0, he's well behind his stats from the previous season.
What Can Caps Do To Change His Form?
G2 Esports' form as a whole comes as a shock, although they looked to back to their best before a sudden capitulation versus Misfits.
Caps had one of his best game of the split so far, having taken five kills and four assists in a dominant display over Vincent "Vetheo" Berrié (who tops the league statistics for KDA). It also saw the return of Lucian to his champion pick, a popular choice for the Mid-Laner prior to the split.
A return to Lucian may be the key for Caps to reignite G2, switching back to basics and comfortability, rather than experimenting so close to the end of the season.
With the guaranteed Worlds spots fading from their grasp, G2 need to find form quickly, as they sit below the seeds at the halfway stage.
A month off may see the back-to-back-to-back Worlds semifinalists rejuvenate their form, with Caps having idle time to master another champion or get back in his Lucian groove.
