As any Pokemon fan will tell you, there's nothing quite like finding a shiny 'mon while journeying through the world of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

That double-take of shock before realising what you've found is incredible, but much like the rarity of these Pocket Monsters, these moments don't happen very often.

While there are ways of boosting your shiny odds with Herba Mystica, this will only increase your chances for an allocated period of time. Now, Scarlet & Violet players are finally convinced they've found a more consistent technique for locating shinies.

Scarlet & Violet players think they've found trick that boosts Shiny odds

Taking to the PokemonScarletViolet subreddit (via Dexerto), user TheDreamLightDude showcased the moment they found a shiny Sentret while farming items.

Along with all the congratulations from the community, a discussion broke out about a method that seems to help locate shiny Pokemon. According to trainers, exploring and travelling across as much terrain as possible seems to be the best way to find shinies.

"I’ve noticed the more you travel across the map, the more likely you are to run into a full odds/charm-only odds shiny, probably has something to do with loading tons of overworld sprites I guess," suggested one.

Other fans agreed, revealing that they've "gotten 4 full boxes of shiny Pokemon in the last month" with this technique. While it seems like an obvious trick, moving around as much of the map as possible could be the ultimate shiny hunting technique.

How rare are Shinies in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

It's worth noting that this trick is only speculation from the community, but it's well worth testing out if you're keen to get your hands on a few shiny Pokemon. In terms of rarity, shinies have a base rate spawn of around 1 in 4096, so it's easy to see why so many trainers are always on the hunt.

More than just looking pretty in your box, shiny Pokemon are well worth collecting for those who want to complete their Pokedex. Any potential advantage you can take to find more is invaluable, so test this out the next time you're exploring Paldea or Kitakami.
