For VALORANT players, one of the major gripes is those who insta-lock Agents. Through the use of unscrupulous third-party apps, select players have been locking in their chosen characters faster than humanely possible.

But not for much longer. Riot Games has now shut down third-party apps that help players insta-lock, as cease and desist orders have been dished out.

Riot Games cease the third-party app Recon Bolt

Insta-locking Agents doesn't only omit a very selfish approach to play, but it can also be quite the nightmare for other fans to have to slot in around the pick to make sure there are enough roles being covered.

Although it was mostly used to get control of Jett, other initiators and controllers are often insta-picked, leaving some players with no choice but to work around these selfish shooters.

However, third-party insta-locking App "Recon Bolt" has now revealed that Riot Games has issued cease and desist orders to delist it from the stores.

Game developer Julian Dunskus (who owned Recon Bolt) took to the Discord server to tell users, "I've officially reviewed a cease and desist letter from Riot, threatening to take me to court if I don't take down the app and its GitHub page."

Third-Party VALORANT Apps to be axed from stores on July 20

Dunskus revealed that Riot gave Recon Bolt a deadline of July 27 to be removed from App stores, but they will be complying with time to spare and will be removed on July 20. With the might of Riot coming down hard, we wouldn't want to chance it either.

As far as Dunskus is aware, the app may stay live in a "Flappy Bird" scenario, where those who have already downloaded Recon Bolt can continue to use it.

The app did also track stats, which proved to be popular, but its main issue was with players taking advantage of the insta-locking capabilities. Either way, Riot has this one 'locked' down tight.
