There are a few remakes that fans have been desperate to see for some time.

Naturally, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill will often top the list, as well as the long-rumoured The Last of Us dominating the conversation in the PlayStation world. But after the incredibly impressive remake of Resident Evil 2, (and to a lesser extent, Resident Evil 3) fans have been begging for Capcom to paint over all of the series' classic games with that new lick of paint. With Resident Evil 4, perhaps the franchise's most recognisable entry, hopefully coming first.

We didn't expect much of a State of Play conference, as the last few have been relatively disappointing for the most part - but last night's edition took us by surprise, and Resident Evil fans have been truly treated. And it's finally here.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Has Finally Been Revealed

Oh my god, it's happening.

After years of begging and crying, fans can finally rest easy - because the remake of Resident Evil 4 has finally been revealed, and is officially on the way.

The Leon Kennedy adventure has long been the favourite game of PlayStation veterans, and finally it comes to the next generation - and surprisingly, the next generation exclusively, with PSVR2 support coming later on.

The trailer boasts the visuals we've come to expect of the Resident Evil remakes, and though it's familiar, it's riveting to finally see Spain rendered once again with all the same love.

The trailer looks dingy, bleak, and gorgeous, and we can't wait to see what lies in wait in the upcoming remake - but sadly, we may still be waiting some time for it.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Is Coming Next Year

As may come as a bit of a bummer to Resident Evil die-hards, we're going to have to wait a little longer before the game officially arrives.

The remake is officially landing in 2023, with a March 24 release date opening up the game's trailer.

It's a shame to have to wait so patiently for the game we've waited so long for - but if it means that Resident Evil is just as good upon remaking it as we remember it from the good old days, then so be it. At least we know that the game is finally on its way. It's about damn time.
