We're just a wizard's beard away from Hogwarts Legacy, but as we gear up for what could be one of 2023's biggest games, one site has banned all mention of it.

It's no Chamber of Secrets that Hogwarts Legacy has become a hot topic in the gaming community. Thanks mainly to the thoughts of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and her stance on trans rights. As both sides go to war, Resetera has shouted, "Silencio."

Why Is Resetera Banning Hogwarts Legacy?

The Resetera moderators have announced a ban on all things Hogwarts Legacy, which includes promoting or even discussing the title.

Resetera's thoughts are clear, as it brands Rowling a "bigot." It says she uses her position "as a wealthy and famous individual, for legislation that will hurt trans people."

The statement reiterates that "the mod team has decided to expand our prior ban on promotion for the Hogwarts game to include the game itself. There will be no OT and no discussion of this game."

Away from Rowling, Resetera cited Lead Designer Troy Leavitt's past comments on YouTube that seemingly took a pro-Gamergate stance. Resetera had previously limited promotion to a singular post that collated everyone's thoughts on Hogwarts Legacy, but now, the AAA title has been slapped with an outright ban.

Trans Allys Are Giving Their Money To Charity

Whether you believe we should support the hard work of the devs, are standing solely with the LGBTQ+ community, or fall somewhere in the middle, it'll be interesting to see whether Hogwarts Legacy's sales are affected.

We recently reported how streamer Boba asked gamers to donate the cost of Hogwarts Legacy to trans-support charity Mermaids. The total has continued to climb, with over $6,000 now being donated to the cause.

This comes after Rowling appeared to mock a trans gamer and has previously said cashing her royalty cheques helps her sleep at night. Despite Warner Bros. Interactive trying to distance itself from Rowling's involvement, she'll still be paid for royalties.

You might remember Hogwarts Legacy was trolled on Steam, and before Valve locked it down, gamers were tagging it as "transphobic" and even a "genocide simulator."

The Wizarding World is in a state of flux right now, with Warner Bros. shelving plans to continue the Fantastic Beasts series following the box office bombing Secrets of Dumbledore faced.

We'll have to wait and see whether Rowling's words will hit Hogwarts Legacy in the pocket.
