Rainbow Six: Siege developers, Ubisoft, has announced that they will be introducing a streamer mode in the "first half of year 6".

In an update with by Ubisoft, the developers addressed many of the bugbears of the community and how they plan to tackle some of the main issues with the game.

Whilst the update dives into the strategies behind the ways to grapple with mouse and keyboard use on consoles, wrestle with lagging servers and connectivity, and the ongoing fight against cheating and hackers, the most interesting reading comes from their update regarding the implementation of a Streamer Mode.

Ubisoft stated that "The purpose of Streamer Mode is to protect our content creators with settings that allow them to increase their anonymity while streaming. The settings intend to discourage and prevent disruptive players from using streamers' public information in a toxic way," and that they intend this mode to help fight the battle against Queue Sniping and Stream Sniping. Most compellingly, Ubisoft also snuck in a slight update on the matter by saying "Status: First half of Y6".

With this update, it has now been speculated that Ubisoft will release this feature in Season 2 of Year 6.

Year 6 will also see Ubisoft reevaluate their thoughts about player models in Rainbow Six: Siege, making it more distinguishable when players have in-game skins and customisable features, alongside gameplay changes to flashbangs and other equipment.

With said changes in mind, the future looks bright for R6 fans. The game has moved from strength to strength in 2020 and is quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing esports.
