The gaming chair market is confusing, complicated, and gives too much choice for anyone to know where to start. It’s hard to figure out what will compliment your desk setup, what will compliment you, and how much is reasonable to spend on something as menial as a chair. The companies at the head of the game don’t half make it hard for you, either - a lot of them look incredibly similar, appear to do similar things, and the only thing that truly makes them different is which Twitch streamer is sitting in what.

These differences are all significant to even the most seasoned PC gamers, and as someone who’d only ever used shoddy desk chairs and stools when at my monitor, it was even harder to decipher where to turn, and to decide if I was willing to take the plunge on a full-on gaming chair. Luckily, noblechairs made that decision easy for me, and have proven themselves as masters of their craft with their DOOM Edition HERO Chair.

noblechairs' HERO Edition Is A Premium Product

If there’s one thing that’s worth pointing out, right out of the gate, the one thing that’s glaringly obvious about high-end gaming chairs - this is an expensive chair. Coming in at £389.98, the saddle is pretty extortionate for outside eyes, but for those who know, it’s a fair price going in. It’s especially the case for the noblechairs HERO too, as the chair is an exemplary peripheral for any gaming experience.

While my weak DIY skills didn’t match up perfectly with the construction of the chair, it was a simple process to follow, with the chair being put together and completely ready to go in around half an hour. Sitting in it for the first time, it’s immediately obvious that this is a chair that can work for anyone thanks to its remarkable adjustability. The armrests can be made to slide and skate into whatever position suits you, taking up angles you wouldn’t expect of it, just in case you’d need them. The chair’s height, angle, backrest and lean sensitivity are all in your hands, and can all be changed for your absolute comfort. And good lord, is this chair comfortable.

The HERO Chair Is Insanely Comfortable

In line with the chair’s gaming sensibilities, it keeps you sat up at a pretty strict angle if you want to be facing your monitor at a comfortable eye level. This might be trouble for some, but as someone with frequent back trouble, it’s a genuine treat. It’s no real problem to be kept so perpendicular when every other aspect of the chair is so easily altered, meaning that however straight you’re sat, you won’t have to reach to keep your arms on the rests.

The build quality is immaculate, and its materials genuinely feel premium. The majority of the material is a premium PU leather, which remains waterproof and durable. It’s the durability that serves as one of the biggest selling points of a chair like this, and the DOOM HERO is no different - the chances are this chair out of the box will last for many years, and you won’t have to worry about the integrity of the material giving way for a very long time.

There’s no hiding that this edition of the chair, the DOOM HERO, is a gorgeous bit of furniture. It wears what makes DOOM so very - well, DOOM - all over its fabric, with embroidered glyphs in bright red making up the centrepiece, with the game’s logo at its head and on the back, and with “RIP AND TEAR” at the very base, reminding you exactly what you’re here to do. It’s perfect for any DOOM superfan and will tie together a hyper-violent desk setup with grandeur.

Our Verdict

It's very clear that noblechairs’ HERO DOOM Edition chair is a premium product. It’s expensive for sure, but it earns every penny in its build quality, easy customization and incredible presentation. If you’re serious about amping up your gaming setup and are willing to shell out for a comfortable chair that will last you for some time, then you can’t go wrong with the HERO model. And if it’s ripping and tearing especially that you’ll be using it for, then there’s no question that the DOOM edition will be perfect for you.
