Well, it didn't take Team Liquid's Nick “nitr0” Cannella long to find a new home, with the former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) pro setting his sights on the wide expanse of VALORANT. Many considered nitr0 to be a cornerstone of Team Liquid and even dubbed him "Captain America" for his impressive set of skills.

Sources have told ESPN that nitr0 wants to transition from CS:GO to VALORANT after five years of being a Team Liquid favourite.

Since VALORANT's release in early June, there have been a number of big players who've jumped ship from CS:GO. Other's include 100 Thieves' Spencer "Hiko" Martin, T1's Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham, and even fellow Liquid player, Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom. Still, nitr0 is arguably the biggest player to make the move to Riot's all-star first-person shooter.

Looking back at Team Liquid's time with nitr0, he had an amazing run. The 24-year-old's highlight was easily being the in-game leader for the 2019 IEM Grand Slam. Team Liquid won four S-tier tournaments and bagging the $1 million grand prize.

Importantly, nitr0 was an important part of the roster and played nearly every role. As well being a rifler, and AWPer, or leading in-game, he was always at the heart of Team Liquid.

Don't feel too bad for Liquid about nitr0's departure though. The team has already signed an accomplished replacement with Michael "Grim" Wince, who made his debut at DreamHack Summer. Although many thought nitr0 would stick with the pro CS:GO scene, sources claim "multiple" North American teams are now touting him to beef up their VALORANT teams.

VALORANT is clearly a game on the rise, and not just due to nitr0's move. In July, the game was the fifth most-watched on Twitch and bagged an average of 70,000 viewers. Given its relative infancy in the world of esports, keep your eyes on the prize to see what happens next and if any other prominent CS:GO players will also make the switch.
