The Nintendo Switch is crawling toward the end of its life cycle, and it's undoubtedly going to be sad to say goodbye.

The console gave us a lot of modern classics from Nintendo, with Super Mario Odyssey serving as the grandest example, while its innovations with the Joy-Con controllers were a pretty great symbol of Nintendo's favour of fun.

Though the company hasn't confirmed that the Switch is on its way out just yet, fans are bracing for impact and looking towards the future. Now, one leaker has supposedly discovered the future in all of its glory. Yes, those Nintendo Switch 2 rumours are back.

A new Nintendo Switch may launch this year

According to a new leak shared on Twitter by CentroLeaks, it looks like we could be getting a brand-new Switch console by the festive season.

A grand 4chan post has been revealed, which indicates that its details should be taken with a pinch of salt. Still, there's a wealth of details about the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC.

Along with these details - many of which have been confirmed by the DLC's launch trailer - is the mention that a new graphics enhancement for "the new Nintendo Switch models that will be released alongside DLC2." Interesting.

CentroLeaks says it had "verified" the leak (whatever that may mean), but it's still a little tetchy with the news coming from 4chan. Either way, the implication of a new Switch console is exciting and not worth entirely dismissing.

When could the Switch 2 be coming?

The leak suggests that the new Switch model will launch alongside the second Scarlet & Violet DLC, titled The Indigo Disk. This is set to launch in winter 2023, and with the report suggesting the Switch 2 is coming in Q4 of 2023, the dates match up.

Who knows what to trust at this stage, so it's best to withhold our giddiness until we hear it from Nintendo itself - but it's hard to deny that it's an exciting prospect.

Of course, we've been here before. As well as Tears of the Kingdom being rumoured for a Switch 2 release (not happening), supposed specs of a souped-up Switch also did the rounds in 2022. we'd buried the idea of a Switch 2, but by the sounds of it, it could be time to grab the shovel.
