A recent blog post from PlayStation has confirmed that they are working on a brand-new AAA mobile game.

PlayStation has been making strides to expand their development capabilities recently, with them acquiring Housemarque and Bluepoint Games during 2021. However, recently they made the surprise move of acquiring mobile developer Savage Game Studios and formed the PlayStation Studios Mobile Division. With this news also came the announcement that the studio is working on a new AAA game for mobile devices.

In a blog post released on August 29, PlayStation announced their acquisition of mobile developer Savage Game Studios, along with the creation of the PlayStation Studios Mobile Division. The post claims this new divisions is committed to focusing "on innovative, on-the-go experiences based on new and existing PlayStation IP," and will be completely separate from the console developers.

Along with the above announcements, they also revealed that Savage Game Studios are working on a "new unannounced AAA mobile live service action game," but stated it was "too early to reveal more." It's unknown whether this is part of a new IP that Savage were working on prior to the acquisition, or if this is part of an existing IP. Due to the confirmation of it being an action title, God of War could make sense, but PlayStation has a wide list of IPs that the game could utilise.

2022 has been a busy year for Sony and the PlayStation brand. They released their own Xbox Game Pass competitor by rebranding PlayStation Plus which is looking promising thanks to inclusions like Ubisoft+ and titles like Stray

Due to many of the large acquisitions made by Microsoft in recent years, Sony responded by incorporating Bungie into the PlayStation family, and there were also rumours that they were looking to purchase Square Enix. Finally, there is also the upcoming integration with Discord, which should allow players to speak to their friends no matter the platform.
