Netflix has a lot going for it if you're a fan of gaming at large. Not only does it pack The Witcher, the massively successful adaptation of CD PROJEKT RED's iconic fantasy franchise that created a whole new beast in Henry Cavill's incredible Geralt, but it also has swathes of other gaming adaptations to explore.
Castlevania and an upcoming adaptation of Resident Evil make the service a popular one for gamers, especially as the new drive from Netflix is making an attempt to bring actual playable games on board. Now, there's a new addition to the service that's helping to make its gaming content more immersive.
What Is Netflix Spatial Audio?
Netflix has brought spatial audio to its service, which lets users activate its effects on a number of its recent titles. Suprisingly, it appears on a couple of the gaming-themed offerings. Spatial audio is now available on The Witcher, Castlevania, and live-action Resident Evil series.
Extending beyond this, other titles include Stranger Things, The Adam Project, and the entire Fear Street trilogy. The new audio feature helps to create an immersive experience by making a sphere of sound around the user's headphones. The audio is placed in specific nearby locations rather than just feeding into the user's ears.
This way, it's much easier to envision the user as being a part of the same world as the show or film. So, if you ever wanted to be a part of The Witcher or hear Venca whisper in your ear while watching Stranger Things, your chance is finally here.
How Do I Use Netflix's Spatial Audio?
To use spatial audio on Netflix, simply start a movie or show that supports it. If you're using good enough headphones or a good sound system, Netflix will take care of it for you automatically. Netflix has said that spatial audio will roll out starting now, implying that more properties will be usable with it in the future.
If you search 'Spatial Audio' in the Netflix search bar, it'll show you every property currently supporting it, and will be updated with every new addition in the future. It's certainly a nice addition that helps to buff the immersion of the films and TV shows that Netflix has to offer. If you haven't caught up on Stranger Things yet, there's truly no better time to do so.
