It's been five years since we last had an Uncharted game, and now, a Naughty Dog job listing hints that we'll be returning to Nathan Drake's world.

These days, Naughty Dog might be known for The Last of Us, while way back when, it was Crash Bandicoot. Somewhere in the middle, we've got Uncharted and the legacy of Nathan Drake. Although it's been five years since we last had an Uncharted game, all of that might be about to change.

First coming out in 2007, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune introduced us to this intrepid explorer as he searches for the lost treasure of El Dorado. The title was a smash hit that was praised for being an action-adventure mix of Indiana Jones and National Treasure. From then, we had regular sequels and expansions that ended with The Lost Legacy in 2017.

Is A New Uncharted On The Way?

Naughty Dog's future is unclear right now, as the acclaimed developer remains one of Sony's biggest first-party powerhouses. While there's been plenty of talk about what's next for The Last of Us and whether Neil Druckmann will head up a proposed Part 3Uncharted is often forgotten about. Not for long though.

As pointed out by VGC, a Naughty Dog job listing on LinkedIn points to the future of the franchise. Christina-Marie Drake McBrearty has joined Naughty Dog as a recruiter and is "helping to staff a variety of roles," with a particular focus on the creative side. In the post, she confirmed her plans to help in "building future teams for not only new titles but for the legacy of Uncharted."

If this isn't confirmation Drake and co. will be taking flight in the Hog Wild II at some point in the future, nothing is. At this point, there isn't much left to do with Uncharted apart from moving forward. Bluepoint Games released Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection in 2015, while Iron Galaxy has added remastered versions of Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy for Naughty Dog's Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection earlier this year.

When Will We Know More About Uncharted?

Uncharted 4

Earlier this year, Uncharted 4 Co-Director Kurt Margenau and The Lost Legacy's Creative Director Shaun Escayg said they were "open" to the idea of Uncharted 5, and explained their love of the franchise. Things have presumably been helped by the Tom Holland-led Uncharted movie. Although it wasn't exactly a critical smash, the live-action adaptation grossed  $389 million worldwide and became the fourth highest-grossing movie of 2022.

Much like HBO's The Last of Us series has given hopes to Naughty Dog returning to the cordyceps infection, Uncharted movies and games could go hand in hand. Finally, let's remember there have been reports that Naughty Dog is working on multiple games right now. Away from a remaster for The Last of UsUncharted 5 looks like an inevitability.
