Uncharted is getting its moment in the sun once again. The new upcoming movie starring Tom Holland is doing the series' longevity wonders, and the critical reception of the Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy remasters that come with the Legacy of Thieves Collection prove that a fresh lick of paint can make the games feel brand-new.

Nathan Drake is one of PlayStation's most iconic offerings, and it's for good reason. So, of course, though the main narrative of Uncharted has come to an end, fans still want more. Now, a developer has come forward to address fans' desires.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Uncharted 4 Co-Director Kurt Margenau and The Lost Legacy's Creative Director Shaun Escayg have discussed the possibility of a new addition to the franchise's line of action-adventure games.

"I think we can say for certain that we can never say never," said Escayg when asked about a potential Uncharted 5. "Yeah. Uncharted is a franchise we love - that the studio loves. I love, and Kurt loves. It's a world we want to see more of. So I can certainly say that."

It's clear that the passion for the franchise is still there, and it appears that it'd take the right story to appear in order to push Naughty Dog back into the franchise's court. But, despite this, it looks like the team are excited for the movie either way.

Despite raised eyebrows at Tom Holland's turn as adventurer Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie - due to him being younger than Drake in the first game - it seems as though Kurt Margenau is excited to see his performance either way.

"I'm excited to see Tom Holland's take on the character," he says. "I don't know anything other than the trailers we've seen. I'm just excited. It's like, it's finally here! We have Uncharted on the big screen, and it's not going to change directors again, and it's not going to be in development for even longer.

"And I think Tom Holland is a great choice." If you were on the fence about Holland, take it from Margenau, someone who probably knows more about the series than you do, he could yet do a brilliant job.

The future of Uncharted could yet surprise us, and even with the movie on the horizon, a new entry could yet be on the cards. We're hoping that the team won't leap to tell a new Nathan Drake story unless they can tell a great one - but that shouldn't be a problem for Naughty Dog.
