If there is one thing that Disney Dreamlight Valley players have been asking for since the game first released, it’s multiplayer.

While Gameloft has not been secretive about the fact that players would eventually be able to experience the game alongside their friends, they haven’t been very open with the details.

The first ever Disney Dreamlight Valley showcase, which took place on 1 November, has finally shed some light on what multiplayer will mean for the game, how it will work and, most excitingly, that it is coming soon.

Dreamlight Valley multiplayer is on its way

While multiplayer has been part of the road map for Disney Dreamlight Valley for a long time, details of what to expect have only just been released.

As it stands, it seems like Dreamlight Valley’s multiplayer will be very similar to Animal Crossing, as you are able to visit friends valley’s, shop in their shops and hang out in their homes.

The access to Scrooge McDuck’s stores in other friends' Valley's is great news for people who may not be especially impressed with the stock the grouchy shopkeeper has on any particular day.

You will also be able to share items with friends by dropping them on the floor to pick up. While this will allow players to share items and clothing, it will also allow friends to help you complete quests by trading resources. The burden of mining endlessly for iron will hopefully not be quite as tiresome if some friends are there to help you out.

You will be able to have up to three friends visit your valley at once, making Dreamlight Valley a great virtual hang out for people who are tired of the classics like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.

As promised by the original 2023 roadmap, multiplayer will be landing before the end of the year.

Specifically, ValleyVerse will be coming to the cosy, life simulator on 5 December as part of the 1.0 update which will mark the games full release outside of early access.

According to Gameloft, "multiplayer mode will continue to evolve over time, as new ways to interact with your friends are added in future updates," meaning that there is a good chance that more will be added to the ValleyVerse feature overtime.

Unfortunately, Gameloft recently announced that Disney Dreamlight Valley would no longer be going free-to-play alongside its full launch, meaning that anyone who wants to be able to experience the game alongisde their friends will need to purchase it.

This has upset a lot of fans, however will hopefully mean that the game can rely less on microtransactions in the future.
