It's been a hot minute since we've had anything related to Metal Gear Solid, and for some fans, it has been agonising.

Knowing the likelihood of Hideo Kojima returning to the brilliant franchise is impossibly slim, fans have been hanging onto rumours of remakes and remasters to satiate their lust for Solid Snake's return to the video game industry. Hell, we've waited long enough.

While it looks like we'll have to keep looking at our watches, we've waited so long, some players are taking it into their own hands.

Fans Remake Metal Gear Solid In Unreal Engine 5

Using the incredible power of Unreal Engine 5, some fans have decided that waiting for Konami to act on its massively dormant franchise is futile. Although there are whispers of a Metal Gear Solid remake, it's not enough.

YouTuber, JackTheLightning has decided that the work on a Metal Gear Solid remake must fall upon them - realising a video that explores the 1998 classic game with a new lick of paint.

The Unreal Engine 5 Metal Gear Solid remake showcases an opening cinematic for the first game, entirely rebuilt in the new-gen tech. It's incredibly stylish, and it effectively replicates the aesthetics of MGS to create a very atmospheric peek into the world Kojima crafted.

What's Next For Metal Gear Solid?

As of right now, there's no telling what could be coming from Konami for Metal Gear Solid. The series has been long overdue some kind of remake, and rumours of their arrival are rife to such a degree that it's hard to tell what's reputable and what isn't.

Rumours of remakes of the first game and Metal Gear Solid 3 are fairly strong, and the ones that fans are clinging on to for any morsel of hope - so maybe these games are the ones to expect. After all, we recently saw Konami breathe new life into Silent Hill

For the time being, Metal Gear is lost in limbo alongside Konami's Castlevania IP. Still, this Unreal Engine 5 Metal Gear Solid remake is incredibly impressive and shows off just what we're missing when it comes to the long-awaited MGS remake. Please, Konami, we're starving.
