Nostalgic Modern Warfare 2 fans are in for some early treats just after Halloween, adding to your mountain of trick-or-treating chocolate and double XP pizzas. Allowing a few weeks to settle in, Infinity Ward has promised that post-launch content is coming. With it will come an injection of nostalgia that will likely appease old-school fans.

Having had their classic map pack DLC leaked, it's evident that the developers have an eye for the old maps to return.

Now, it appears that we're getting some earlier than first anticipated though, and Call of Duty has promised one "fan-favourite" multiplayer map to come in November and another "legendary" battleground in December.

Just three weeks after the launch of Modern Warfare 2, Season 1 will be rolled out, and big promises have already been made. Taking to a new blog post, Call of Duty developers have confirmed that Warzone 2.0, DMZ, and Battle Royale modes will all be coming in the first season.

But we already mostly knew that. What we didn't know was that a "fan favourite" map will be coming as part of the multiplayer content, which indicates a remastered design returning to the franchise. The mid-season content also confirms that "another legendary Multiplayer map comes to Modern Warfare II."

This comes shortly after leakers suggested that the Marina Bay Grand Prix map is actually coming to MW2 despite its obvious omission from the beta.

Which MW2 Maps Are Being Remastered For Season 1?

It is known that the Warzone 2 map, Al Mazrah, will have Terminal, Quarry, Dome, Showdown, and Highrise all littered throughout the design, meaning we'll likely see two of these come to multiplayer during Season 1.

As to which one, well, that's quite a toss-up. Legendary status can only be known to describe either Terminal or Highrise, so expect one of these in the mid-season update. It's also been heavily rumoured that Favela will be an MW2 map, which would also throw a spanner in the works for the first of the two designs to be remastered.

Either way, post-launch content is coming with a nostalgic boost. We just hope that MW2 can stand on its own two feet without that injection though.
