Latest GTA 6 Leak Reveals 'Brother And Sister' Playable Characters
Whether you're a fan of Tommy, CJ, Niko, or the trifecta of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, you've got to admit the Grand Theft Auto franchise has delivered some great protagonists over the years. Whether it's seeking revenge against a crime syndicate or pulling off one last heist, we've met a rag-tag crop of tragic antiheroes across five main games and various spin-offs. So, who's next?
In particular, the GTA franchise is remembered for its trio of playable protagonists from GTA V. Maybe it's because Rockstar refuses to give up on the game, but some nine years after it was first released, the leads feel like they're part of the family. We've previously seen leaks about who will be stepping up to the plate this time around, but now, we've got a new one.
Who Are The Playable Protagonists Of GTA 6?
The scoop comes courtesy of Matheusvictorbr, who has a somewhat checkered past when it comes to GTA leaks. Only days ago, they reported that GTA Online could be getting a massive Liberty City expansion, while they've also claimed a GTA IV remaster could be on the way. This time, they claim GTA 6 will feature a brother and sister duo as the game's protagonists.
Posting on Twitter, the insider wrote: "The idea that Rockstar Games proposed was the story of 2 brothers - 1 male and 1 female - who separated after their parents were killed, in the prologue in 2003." If this is the real deal, it backs up further claims that the next entry will be set in the modern-day. It also leans into THAT massive Project Americas leak.
Namely, the idea of a female protagonist is pretty major for GTA. Given that Rockstar has repeatedly been called to task for its treatment of women and largely resigning them to prostitutes that you can kick. Giving us the chance to play as a brother and sister would also alleviate those inevitable complaints if we were only able to play as a woman. Cue toxic masculinity.
What Else Do We Know About GTA 6?
Although Rockstar has finally confirmed GTA 6 is on the way, we don't know anything else about it. We're lost in a sea of rumours, that include everything from a modernised Vice City sequel to a huge map that will include its own fictionalised version of South America. Sadly, Rockstar isn't willing to give anything away just yet.
Even if all of the above should be taken with a large pinch of salt, we just don't see GTA 6 releasing without some sort of female protagonist. In an era of Lara, Aloy, and FemShep, it's about time we got a woman's touch in GTA. Unfortunately, don't expect to find out anything on GTA 6 in 2022, with the next generation of the automotive showstopper presumably still a few years off. Whoever is joining the fold, we're sure to get another tormented soul in GTA 6.
