Kirby's Mouthful Mode Could Destroy The Entire Universe

Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks like an absolute treat on many levels. The game not only promises to be the perfect Kirby experience in a deliciously bleak post-apocalypse for ultimate contrast, but also delivers on a whole new host of activities, characters, and movesets for the pink puffball to master. Although the game looks like a total delight, one feature has taken the internet by storm.

Kirby's new "Mouthful Mode" sees the little sphere of… something... open his maw and consume items much larger than he - practically holding them in his mouth just enough to gain control of them. Cars, vending machines, giant lightbulbs, the works. Kirby has found himself a whole new way to take over the world.

While it's funny to see his little body stretch over much larger items, in any world other than his own likely making him thin to the point of translucence - there's something more sinister at play here. As Kirby's limitlessness may have just marked the end of everything we know.

Kirby's abilities have always been objectively pretty horrible, digesting his foes in nanoseconds, absorbing their abilities and reducing them to nothing, then leaving a number of questions unanswered in the process (does he gain their memories? Personalities? Likes & Dislikes? The more we think about it, the more grotesque it becomes), now he's got a new toy.

Mouthful Mode shows clear as day that Kirby doesn't need to consume to gain an enemy or item's attributes - it simply has to be in his mouth. While this spells something pretty horrible given that Kirby is reducing his foes to nothing seemingly for the thrill, it means something worse. That Kirby can take control of anything he likes. Anything.

Who's to say he can't pop a computer in his gob and learn every morsel of information that the internet has to offer? If an enemy is withholding information, can he just slip them under his tongue and fish around in their brain for the necessary clues he needs? The implications of this new ability are wretched, and it could lead to Kirby's domination of the universe!

With the limitlessness of Kirby's newfound skills, everything we know and hold dear is at stake. Though we don't know exactly where The Forgotten Land is, if we presume that it's on another planet far from our own, can we really rule out Kirby stretching his weird little body over the entire planet and travelling through space at his own will? And from there, is there really anything stopping him from consuming entire galaxies... including our very own?

There is no line yet drawn that indicates this couldn't become a grim new reality, with Kirby gradually expanding across the expanse of space and landing on the Milky Way's doorstep. By this point, he'll have garnered all knowledge from every planet he takes into his mouth, and with potential alien races residing there, he could have all he needs to become an omniscient god. Not only will Kirby have the power of a god by this point, but he'll also have the wisdom and talents of one.

Kirby Could Be The Cataclysm That Dooms Us All

With no sign of stopping and no evidence that Mouthful Mode doesn't cross the Rubicon of Kirby's power, all we know could fall into the squishy pink hands of the lovable little lump. He may seem trustworthy, but the moment he accidentally consumes a being with truly evil intent, it could be over for all of us.

Though Kirby's abilities seemed limitless before, there are whole new degrees of science with which to assess him that we never expected, and if we have to detain the adorable Nintendo favourite by locking him up with Bowser and Wario, then we have to. We owe it to our children, our children's children, and every future generation in our galaxy.

The Mouthful Mode might make Kirby and the Forgotten Land a little more whimsical and helped its selling power with little cars and big lightbulbs - but there's the darker side of its potential disaster for all life in the universe. But we can trust him, though, right? Right?
