It Takes Two became an undeniably big deal, launching comfortably but to popularity with co-op players across the world, and going on to win the coveted title of Game of the Year at the 2021 Game Awards. It was a delightful moment for Hazelight Studios.

To watch game director Josef Fares receive the love he and his team deserved was wonderful. And now, it's stretching to a new audience. The story of divorcing couple May and Cody was announced to be in the works for a film or TV adaptation - and we finally have more details on the new project. It seems it's got some big names attached.

The Rock Is Producing The It Takes Two Movie

We finally have confirmation that the new adaptation of It Takes Two will be a movie rather than a series. However, it has also been revealed that it has some big names attached. According to Variety, Hollywood's highest-paid actor is about to be on the books.

The movie has been set up for development at Amazon, along with production from dj2 Entertainment and Seven Bucks Productions joining too. But that's not all thanks to The Rock himself, Dwayne Johnson, reportedly being attached as a producer on behalf of Seven Bucks - along with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.

There's still every chance that Johnson could also star in the film (though where exactly he'd fit in is a whole other question), but for now, he'll be sat in the producer's room. Weird.

Who Is Writing The It Takes Two Movie?

The movie adaptation of It Takes Two seems to be in safe hands, as it's being penned by the writers of Sonic the Hedgehog and its hugely popular sequel, Pat Casey and Josh Miller. They're also executive producing along with Josef Fares and Oskar Wolontis from the game's studio Hazelight Studios.

It Takes Two has a pretty stacked team, and though The Rock joining the party is a hell of a surprise, it's a welcome one for sure. Expect at least 100% more raised eyebrows in the film than we were getting before his arrival.
