Call of Duty insiders are once again teasing a standalone Zombies game. According to the prominent leaker Tom Henderson over on Twitter, a spin-off standalone Zombies game could be coming soon.

Voicing his insider knowledge on the Twittersphere, Henderson revealed that Zombies would no longer by just a "3rd gamemode" for long, and that "BIG" things were coming soon.

Zombies has been a staple game mode in Call of Duty games, making its first appearance in Call of Duty: World at War back in 2008, and has remained a chaotic and enjoyable popular element of the games ever since. Fans have been clamouring for some time for a full game of Zombie madness, expanding on the lore and gameplay with a bigger budget and more hours to play with.

In response to a Tweet stating that Zombies should have its own universe and storyline, Henderson drip-fed his insider info to his followers that they would be soon getting their own slice of standalone pie.

This isn't the first time Tom has leaked some juicy details about the much-loved undead game mode, and back in February 2021, revealed the standalone title was actually "in early development".

Zombies is a firm favourite amongst the Call of Duty community, and a fully-realised standalone title would surely breathe new life into the game mode. However, some would prefer it to stay in the game mode box and not infiltrate the Call of Duty full-game universe, and Activision have not yet made any announcements regarding the concept.

We for one would love a full campaign of Zombies chaos, and if the rumours are true, we may not have to wait too long.
