Attack on Titan games aren't all that rare, but they've never quite captured exactly what fans have wanted. Of course, the anime giant about anime giant has spread into gaming as it's appeared in Call of Duty Vanguard and Dead by Daylight in the form of new cosmetics.

All fans have really wanted is a game that can nail its swinging mechanics and make them feel like they truly stand a chance against fearsome Titans. The official offerings for Attack on Titan video games haven't been able to nail what players are looking for. One indie developer has taken things into their own hands, and it has definitely paid off

What Is The Attack On Titan Indie Game?

Swammy is the indie developer who has impressed Attack on Titan fans - making a better game based on the anime than any officially licenced one that has come before it. The game has amassed over 10 million downloads since it first launched, and now, it's set to get an even bigger boost. It's been revealed that the free Attack on Titan game is going to be ported to Unreal Engine 5.

The developer tweeted a short gameplay video that has garnered a lot of attention, sharing a look at the UE5 build of the game - and it looks truly breathtaking. The game's mechanics, graphics, and open sandbox gameplay come together to make this indie title the Attack on Titan game that fans have been waiting for for years.

According to Kotaku, the title blew up in 2021 when Swammy's girlfriend persuaded him to post a short gameplay video to TikTok. When Swammy was spurred on by the reaction of fans, they continued to work on the demo by adding actual Titans, and then, a multiplayer co-op mode. Giving us some serious Marvel's Spider-Man vibes, you can swing around in either first or third-person.

How Can I Download The Attack On Titan Fan Game?

If you want to take the game for a spin yourself, you can find a download for both PC and Android on Swammy's Linktree page. The game is free to download, but give them a follow on Twitter at the very least, eh? If you like the Android version, be warned it's in its "final build," with Swammy having zero reason to continue working on it, for my own mental health."

At least there's more to come for the PC version, and with Unreal Engine 5 sure to give it a boost, those that hold the actual rights to the IP should take note. Swammy's free Attack on Titan game looks immensely impressive, and there's no doubt that this is up there with the best AoT gaming experiences on the market right now. Sorry, Vanguard, you've been toppled by one developer.
