ImperialHal explains why Valkyrie is top-tier in Apex Legends Season 20

A long time ago, Valkyrie dominated the Apex Legends meta and was part of almost every squad that dove down into the Outlands.

However, over the last few seasons, the Winged Avenger has slipped down the rankings and is no longer the default Skirmisher in a group.

Despite this, Philip "ImperialHal" Dosen and the rest of TSM have been running her in their comps in Breakout, alongside Bloodhound and Bangalore, and in Hal's opinion Valkyrie is now an "OP" pick in Season 20.

ImperialHal thinks Valkyrie is "OP" in Apex Legends

During a recent stream, Hal was discussing which Legends are going to be strong in competitive for Year 4 of the AlGS.

In the CEO's opinion, Valkyrie is top-tier and "OP" because in Season 20, it's so hard to kill her while she's using her Skyward Dive Ultimate.

"I think Valk is OP as f**k right now, you literally cannot die, there's no Charge Rifle or like any gun that can beam you out of the air, it's so good, Valk Ultimate is f**king insane... you get the freest positions with it."

If that wasn't enough, Hal values the first Legend Upgrade offered to Valk that allows you to launch higher with Skyward Dive. With the ring being one of the biggest threats in Apex, control over your position on the map will always be key.

It's worth noting, Hal's value of Valkyrie in Season 20 is related to her strength in the ALGS, not Ranked and Pubs. Although she's still strong in these modes, typical Apex games revolve a lot more around aggression and skirmishes over positioning.

As a result, her pick rate has remained more or less the same following the Season 20 patch, sitting at around 2.9% according to Apex Legends Status.

This is still solid though and if you've been holding off from testing the Winged Avenger, Breakout is a great opportunity to learn her kit.
