Is it ever too early to start talking about Game of the Year? We're just days into 2023, but that hasn't stopped us from looking at what could be this year's Elden Ring or God of War Ragnarok

We're already got a pretty stacked year thanks to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomStar Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Starfield. All are set to be major sellers, but apparently, Hogwarts Legacy should be the one we're looking out for.

Will Hogwarts Legacy Be 2023's Biggest Game?

As spotted by ComicBook.comHogwarts Legacy is brewing up more than just Polyjuice Potion over on Amazon. The game is currently No. 1 in terms of best-selling PlayStation 5 games.

This isn't bad, especially considering Hogwarts Legacy won't be swishing and flicking its way onto the new-gen console until February 10. Hogwarts Legacy is currently clear of other PS5 games already available, including Sonic Frontiers (#2) and Marvel's Midnight Suns (#5).

Across the board, it's selling well. The PS4 charts have Hogwarts Legacy in eighth place, while Xbox Series X has it in third. Even though it's true that the data is skewed due to Hogwarts Legacy's imminent release, it's great news for the troubled title.

What Happened To Hogwarts Legacy?

It's been a tumultuous road to Hogwarts Legacy, and at one point, we weren't sure we'd ever see the Wizarding World come to life in its current form.

If footage from the game being leaked back in 2018 (two years before its official announcement) wasn't enough, Hogwarts Legacy has been shunted several times.

Delayed from its original release of 2021, it then slipped from 2022 to the current February 10 release. This has come with its struggles, as the last-gen versions will land on April 4 and Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait until July 25.

Although there's been plenty of positive press for Hogwarts Legacy, let's not forget the dark mark that's hung over the game thanks to J.K. Rowling's outspoken stance on the transgender community.

Warner Bros. Interactive has done its best to distance itself from the divisive author, however, there's no escaping she'll receive royalties. Still, it's looking like Hogwarts Legacy is going to sell well in 2023.

It's been a long route to get here, but we're guessing Hogwarts Legacy will have Avalanche laughing all the way to Gringotts.
