God of War: Ragnarok is well on its way, and fans can't wait to get back into the rich world established by the first game, one of the PlayStation 4's greatest accomplishments. In preparation to get back to the hacking and slashing godlike action, though, fans are returning to the game in their droves, and many are taking to the new PC port of the title too. The PC version of the game is already regarded as the best way to experience the game with its impressive visual fidelity and widescreen compatibility, making it not only the most gorgeous version o the title we've had yet but also the best playing.

Kratos' story is also on the slate for mods now that it's made it off of the PlayStation, and now players are going nuts adding modifiers to the game - including one that'll put you into the wee boots of Atreus.

God of War Mod Will Let You Play As Atreus

If you've ever played as the God of War himself and thought, "I'd much rather be playing as this man's whiny son," then boy, do we have good news for you - a new mod that is in the works will let you take charge of Atreus and his bow.

Thanks to Santa Monica Studio's blessing for players to take over the game and go nuts with mods. And in that spirit, a modder by the name of Speclizer, has started work on a mod that will let you play as Atreus, dipping and darting around foes and firing arrows as the main form of attack.

The video posted that reveals the work-in-progress mod shows Atreus in action and taking on Baldur in Kratos' first encounter with him.

Though the mod is still burdened with some strange animations, once completed it's likely to be incredibly sleek - so we're looking forward to seeing the final product.

Will God of War: Ragnarok Come To PC?

It's not known yet if the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok will come to PC or not, but given the first game's move from PlayStation, it's likely to happen at some point. It took three years for God of War to make the jump, so maybe we shouldn't expect the port to be made right away, but it'd be a surprise if by the end of the 2020s, only the first of two God of War titles have been ported. So perhaps taking Atreus over into Ragnarok isn't such a bizarre hope after all.

Either way, taking over as Atreus in God of War offers a whole new perspective and way to play - so who knows, maybe we could get the chance to officially play as him in the future. Fancy making a spin-off, Santa Monica?
