G2 Esports has become a prominent name in the European League of Legends scene. They have the very best players in every role, quickly making them a favourite for the international stage in the coming days. While the organisation has been dominating the LEC stage for quite some time now, the team is yet to find international success and defeat the likes of Korean and Chinese teams during the deciding semis and finals.

Europe's hopes are now more robust than ever as G2 acquired the services of Martin "Rekkles" Larsson to fill the void created by C9 Luka "Perkz" Perkovic in the G2 Line-up. So far, the LEC Spring spilt has been going outstanding for the team as they have performed flawlessly and dropped only two matches to Fnatic and Schalke 04. Later, they defeated both of these teams and dominated them to recover quickly from their lost matches.

G2 Esports took down Fnatic in the most convincing manner and claimed their revenge against their arch-nemesis in the later stages of LEC. Moreover, the macro play from the side of G2 was astounding, and they completely neutralised the aggression coming from the side of Fnatic. Be it by using outplays or simple map awareness, the team shunned the likes of Fnatic and is looking to take their success to the international tournaments in the future.

LEC 2021: NEW BEGINNING FOR G2 ESPORTS

After one of the most significant transfers in the history of LEC occurred a few months ago, Rekkles joined the ranks of G2 Esports. Rekkles has been the face of the Fnatic roster for a decade now, and he is a well-received esports personality in the League of Legends scene. His constant pentakills, and the ability to solo carry games made him one of the world's best AD carry. At certain moments, Rekkles kept Fnatic afloat even when his teammates had terrible matches. When the team lost matches, it was blamed on Rekkles and Fnatic choking in the big moments.

After Rekkles joined the G2 Esports roster, many European fans were delighted with the news as G2 was considered one of the best teams in the region. Many fans believed that Rekkles could be that last piece of the puzzle that the team required to win the international titles, and so far, they are right. He went death-less in his first two matches and played extraordinarily well, fitting right into the G2 composition. The best thing about the G2 Esports' League of Legends roster is that they have the best players in every role of the game. Therefore, every player has an equal opportunity to carry matches and help other players stay relevant consistently.

WHY ARE REKKLES AND MIKYX SO GOOD TOGETHER?

Rekkles has been the big name in LEC, where he has his fan base, and he has rightfully deserved the place of the best player in the AD carry role. On the other hand, Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle, from his Splyce days, was famous for his intelligent plays and game control as support. While Fnatic had the opportunity to keep him, they did not, and G2 Esports welcomed one of the sharpest and most creative support players into the fray.

Moreover, since they met under the banner of G2 Esports, they have dominated the bottom lane and are easily the most calculated and consistent bot lane duos in the LEC.

Starting from the pre-season days, the G2 Bot duo swapped the roles and played each other's roles to have fun and, most importantly, develop chemistry. Those practise matches weren't in vain as we saw many unique and creative bot lanes from the Rekkles-Mikyx combo like 'Fasting Senna' and the infamous Sion-Senna bot lane where they made some insane engages by the use of Senna's W and Sion's ability to push the minion just before the root is about to land and following it up with his ultimate ability and destroying the enemy AD carry.

While the casters thought that the bot duo has been practising this hard combo for many days, Rekkles (in the post-match interview) clarified that it was devised inside the match when Mikyx asked him to root the minion, and he would follow it up with his ability. Rekkles' experience and Mikyx's creativity make for a beautiful viewing experience for the LEC fans. The bottom lane continues to break barriers and innovate new play-making methods in League of Legends.

Fnatic has adopted the aggressive playstyle in the current LEC where Rekkles former support, Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov, is famous for diving the enemy laners and make unbelievable plays. But in his last Fnatic squad, Rekkles wouldn't take fights that didn't interest him, resulting in Hylissang dying more than often, which some fans saw as 'Inting' through the matches. But at G2, Mikyx happily sacrifices himself to save the AD carry in the dives and makes strategic team plays that further enable Rekkles and unleash his true potential in the team fights.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR THE G2 BOT LANERS?

If you didn't guess already, the future is very bright for the G2 Esports bot lane as they have the best play-making players. As the season progresses, the team's chemistry will develop, unlocking new avenues for the team and hopefully helping them clinch the Worlds trophy this year.
