Forza Horizon 5 Had A Record-Breaking Opening Week
One of the leading points of the newly-dampened console wars is that players will always defend their corner with which console has the best exclusive titles. For the longest time, PlayStation had the upper hand, harbouring narrative masterworks like The Last of Us and cinematic blockbuster-style games including Uncharted (not to mention the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon's first outings) - but the tides could be turning.
Xbox's acquisition of Bethesda has opened the door for incredible exclusives, and now that The Elder Scrolls VI is confirmed to be limited to Xbox and PC - as well as the arrival of Halo Infinite could herald a new dawn for the franchise - Xbox is beginning to come out swinging. Now, one other title has defied all expectations and given Microsoft something to be damn proud of.
Forza Horizon 5 Has Smashed Xbox Records
The latest in the racing powerhouse franchise of Forza Horizon has seen unprecedented numbers at launch, and has reached a size that blasts some Xbox records out of the water.
Playground Games' Forza Horizon launched on November 9, and its first week alone, has accumulated over 10 million players. This means it has officially become Xbox's biggest game launch of all time. Blimey.
Chances are that the game's debut on Game Pass has done it wonders, but whatever it is that's brought players to the game, the numbers are incredible as a testament to the hard work of Playground Games.
The racer is breathtakingly gorgeous, so it's no surprise that fans old and new pounced on it when it appeared on their home screens. But, there's every chance the title won't hold the championship belt for long.
Forza Horizon 5 Could Be Toppled By Halo Infinite
Though this achievement is incredible and a far cry from Forza Horizon 4's 2 million sales in its own first week, it might not stay this way forever. December will be bringing with it the launch of Halo Infinite's campaign, which could yet topple this new record - though it could be impacted, for better or worse, by the game's multiplayer launching ahead of time.
Only time will tell if anything changes, but we don't want that to scrub away this huge achievement - Forza has long been a part of Xbox's DNA, and this milestone proves that fans aren't quite finished with the franchise just yet.
