Activision has promised that Warzone 2 won't be a copy-and-paste job from the original game, hoping that there will be quite a lot of differentials in the gameplay, map design, and in-game features that allow the game to stand on its own two feet. Despite there being obvious similarities, such as the game engine, with hope, Warzone 2 will combine its glory and strip away its guts, and with it, this one particular feature that makes players' bellies twist.
There will be quite a few features on the purge list that have already been revealed. Warzone's mad array of skins and operators will be left in the past, opening up new realms of possibilities for the sequel and leaving Roze 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and so on, in the dark.
Even the weapons will be ditched for Warzone 2, with a brand-new arsenal and meta to play with. But if one thing needs to be sorted out before the sequel, fans have identified it as packet loss.
Warzone 2 Hopefuls Praying For Less Packet Loss
The three dreaded squares of packet loss are the most infuriating things since the old-school Xbox 360 three rings of death. Why is it bad things always come in threes? Anyway, the squares will often be spammed on the left-hand side of players' screens, telling them that their signal isn't as strong as the game needs it, causing laggy gameplay and poor map renders.
Now, fans have pleaded to the developers to make their sequel run smoother, otherwise, it will be doomed to fail.
Packet loss can be a result of bad connection from both server and client, although, given Warzone's size, even a good solid internet connection can struggle to keep up to pace with the game and lead to a laggy game.
Warzone 2 Needs To Combat Packet Loss
"I don’t care how good of a game WZ2 will be, if they can’t figure out a way to have the game run smoothly and if packet burst and bad servers are going to be the norm, the game will fail," said one Redditor.
Others argued that having the most up-to-date consoles or PC mechanisms will limit the packet loss on Warzone. However, Call of Duty has always been tailored towards the masses and not the minors, and will likely be accessible by players with the oldest consoles or PCs.
The solution? Well, only game-savvy techs will know, and given that Activision will have a wealth of development studios at their disposal, you'd hazard a guess at one person knowing a thing or two about compression.
