Yesterday brought with it the reveal of an all-new Pokemon generation, and fans are absolutely losing it.

Generation 9 will be with us by the end of 2022, bringing with it a new Spanish-inspired region, a whole host of new Pokemon, and an all-new open-world adventure. The game looks incredibly special so far, and we can't wait to get our hands on it - although we know only that it's coming later this year.

No release date has been suggested as of yet - or has it? Because some fans have become convinced of the game's release date, through the past of the franchise and some mad theories.

Fans Think Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Are Coming In November

Some fans are theorising that the new Pokemon titles will be coming in November, in line with previous game launches for the franchise. Players are taking to Twitter to share that they expect a November 18 release date according to the way that other Pokemon games have launched, including the last couple of straightforward franchise releases.

November 18 is a Friday, naturally, a good day to release a game - plus, it's worth remembering that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl released in 2021 on November 19, and Pokemon Sword and Shield's release date was November 15 the year before. It seems that Nintendo was keen to make these games their big holiday titles in their respective years, and so long as the sequel to Breath of the Wild doesn't take its place, it looks like Scarlet and Violet could be next.

But, there's another theory.

Fans Find Potential Release Date Easter Egg In Pokemon Reveal Trailer

Despite this, an interesting potential easter egg has been discovered in the game's release trailer, that could point to a different release date altogether.

First spotted by TheGamer's Cian Maher, in the live-action segment of the trailer, a clock is seen to be going haywire - darting around but stopping at 9, 2, 2, and 2 again. This seems to imply, if taken literally, that the game could yet see a release date on September 2, 2022 - another Friday, and a seemingly good release date choice should Breath of the Wild 2 be Nintendo's Holiday release of choice.

Of course, we can't know for sure until we get some confirmation later this year, but it's impossible to pretend this isn't at least a little intriguing. These games could be the biggest Pokemon titles yet, so we're dying to know more. Bring on September. Or November. Or whenever.
