Everyone Needs A SpongeBob SquarePants Call Of Duty Skin

AI has created a SpongeBob Call of Duty skin, and although it's the stuff of nightmares, we imagine it would be popular in the shop.

Call of Duty once took itself a little more seriously than the other shooter titles on the market, but over the last decade or so, it's started to devolve into people-pleasing, with remarkable results.

The games have steered into silliness, and they've been better off for it, with Warzone being a prime example. Rambo and Die Hard skins, the appearance of Godzilla and Kong, Frank from Donnie Darko.

The list goes on, and proves that even Call of Duty isn't immune to the cosmetic curse that battle royale games bring. And now, with some footballer skins being available pretty soon after the launch of Modern Warfare 2, it looks like the new games aren't much of an exception.

But, one fan has used AI to bring a SpongeBob SquarePants Call of Duty skin to life, and we're obsessed with how truly horrible it is.

Is Spongebob SquarePants In Call Of Duty?

One fan in the Call of Duty subreddit has unleashed hell with an AI-generated collage of images that exemplifies what you'd see if you'd dropped nuclear bombs to the bottom of the ocean, and the mutated creatures that lurked below engaged in immediate warfare.

User bonemech_meatsuit shared the series of images after asking an AI image machine to produce a SpongeBob SquarePants-themed Call of Duty skin, and… my god. He's atrocious.

The images look dry and cold, with the third image looking closer to a Five Nights At Freddy's animatronic than a Call of Duty skin. Still, there's something hypnotic about it.

The dry, crusty sponge is indicative of what would happen if Call of Duty inspired SpongeBob to take the title of Battle for Bikini Bottom incredibly literally - though there's not much that's Rehydrated about him. Ugh.

SpongeBob SquarePants Inspired The Callisto Protocol

From the horrors of war to terrifying space prisons, it looks like SpongeBob has his weird, spindly, yellow fingers all over the place in gaming - including in The Callisto Protocol.

The development of the environments of the game were inspired by a lot of cartoons "like SpongeBob," with character director Glauco Longhi saying that "We look at cartoons on the stylisation and movement because, although it's super real and immersive, we stylised a lot of things to make them more appealing."

It looks like the sponge is showing up in the most horrifying places at the moment, and now that we've seen him on the battlefield, we can't help but wonder what a Modern Warfare 2 lobby would look like where everyone is a nasty, dried-out, sponge. What a sight.
