ESL Australia Announce The Rocket League Oceanic Championship For RLCS X
The Rocket League Oceanic Championship (RLOC) has been announced by ESL Australia, the largest Rocket League esports event in the region’s history.
With $225,000 in prize pool split over three splits, Autumn, Winter and Spring, the RLOC will be Oceanias official tournament in the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS), with points available in each split to contribute towards the majors and the World Championships in Summer next year.
The Autumn Split will kick off on 15th August, just a week after the North American region start, with teams such as Ground Zero Gaming, Renegades, Cringe Society and Mindfreak competing for a place in the RLCS majors.
RLCS Season 9 Oceania winner Ground Zero has yet to complete their roster after SPYDODGE left on July 26, leaving julz and Express without a third. Renegades will look to kick on from the RLO Grand Slam event in June where they were victorious, with CJCJ, Siki and Kamii taking home $14,000.
An announcement is also expected for the South American championships in the coming week as they’re set to start a week after Oceania.
So far, in the history of Oceanic Rocket League, only the recently disbanded Chiefs Esports Club have broken into the top four of the world, where, in Season 6, they beat PSG, NRG and Evil Geniuses before falling to Cloud9 in the semi-finals. With this opportunity Oceania will have constant reason to excel and compete, meaning we may very well see another run like Chiefs’ this year.
