The struggle of Epic Games against Apple has been confusing, but more than anything else, it's been pretty brutal to watch.

Two giants of the entertainment industry clashing has been one hell of a sight to behold, as Epic Games calls out Apple's insular app economy and Apple uses its swathe of legal teams to prove that all of its practices in keeping alternative currencies out of games is fair on their part.

It's been carnage, but Epic Games hasn't given up - and it looks like it's about to pay off for it in the EU.

Fortnite returns to iPhone and iPad this year

It has been revealed by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter) that a new movement has been made in the lawsuit against Apple. This has resulted in a huge win for Fortnite fans on Apple devices in the EU.

The Epic Games Newsroom account has revealed that, in its own words, "the European Commission said that iPads will also need to comply with the Digital Markets Act," meaning that as well as iPhones, Fortnite will be ready to make a return to iPads soon, too.

The tweet reveals that Epic Games is pushing for Fortnite to come back "to iPhones in the EU soon and iPads this year."

It's a huge win for the company, which has waged war against a conglomerate to bring its consumers the same Fortnite experience without sacrificing its microtransaction system entirely. Who knows how Apple will respond to this - but chances are, it's not going to be thrilled.
