Look, we never said it was easy being the Tarnished. Souls-like games are notoriously hard, but when it comes to Elden Ring, even Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has apologised for how difficult it actually is. Still, that hasn't stopped us from pouring hundreds of hours into the Lands Between.

Living up to the legacy of FromSoft favourites like Demon's Souls and BloodborneElden Ring has become a cultural phenomenon that has transcended the average game release to become the talk of the town. From cosplay to memes and modders, Elden Ring is still everywhere. Poking fun at our continued obsession, one brutal Twitter account will mock your Soulsborne stereotypes.

What Is This Brutal Elden Ring Twitter Account?

Make Up A Tarnished Guy is a Twitter account run by YouTuber MattApocaalypse - and purposefully pokes fun at those typical Tarnished tropes we fall into. Taking the "This you?" trend of hypocrisy and turning it into a Twitter account with 105k followers was pretty easy to do.

If you've ever jumped into Elden Ring, you'll find yourselves chuckling at every turn and wondering whether we're really that oblivious to our own comedy. Given the difficulty of the Tree Sentinel as the first big enemy you'll encounter, there are a lot of us who can relate to the following: "tarnished guy who ignored the tree sentinel at the beginning and never went back to kill him."

From simping Melania to those who are quite happy to be Maidenless, there's something for everyone. Other zingers include, "tarnished guy who laughs every time the intro says "THE LOATHESOME DUNG EATER," and what about, "tarnished guy who had no idea you could knock down the walking mausoleums"? Thankfully, most fans seem to take this as a bit of light jostling - even suggesting their own posts to Make Up A Tarnished Guy.

Are We Really That Predictable?

It's not just Elden Ring though. Make Up A Tarnished Guy delves deeper into the history of FromSoft games calls out Bloodborne's infamous rune hack by writing, "tarnished guy that subscribes to ps plus just to use the c*m dungeon in bloodborne." Before long, you'll be recreating that Leonardo DiCaprio meme and point at the screen shouting "that's me, that's so me."

Speaking to Kotaku, MattApocaalypse explained that he started the account because he was sick of being told to "git gud". "As a Souls content creator, I hear the same joke over and over again from people: 'git gud,'" he said. "After hearing it enough times, I decided to make an account that poked fun at Souls fans." Even if you fancy yourself as something of an Elden Lord, it turns out we're all wearing the same pair of Wretch smalls underneath our Lionel's Set armour.
